Naturalization Resources
- Wayne Township Adult Education - Citizenship Classes
- Mondays & Tuesdays, 5:30-8:30pm
- Not currently taking new students; the next class will be Fall 2024
- U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)
- U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has a collection of helpful resources and free study materials for library staff and patrons. Visit the USCIS Citizenship Resource Center to learn how your library can support immigrants who are interested in becoming U.S. citizens. There, you will find information for lawful permanent residents about the naturalization process, eligibility requirements and study materials to prepare for the naturalization interview and test.
As libraries play a critical role in serving immigrant communities, we have developed resources on our website specifically for librarians and library staff. You will find citizenship-related activities for libraries, such as welcoming and encouragement activities, community-outreach activities, and education-oriented activities. You can also get suggestions for helping your English language learning patrons; for example, tips for working with English-as-a-second-language teachers and inviting new library patrons to explore the vast range of services and resources you provide.
Additionally, your library can request a free Civics and Citizenship Toolkit from USCIS. These toolkits are provided free to libraries every five years. The toolkit contains educational materials to help lawful permanent residents learn more about the United States and prepare for the naturalization process. Many of the products in the toolkit can also serve as supplemental teaching tools in a citizenship education class. We also offer resources for libraries who want to start a citizenship program.
Happy National Library Week and thank you for all you do for your communities!
