Coalition for Our Immigrant Neighbors appreciates and enjoys various groups of volunteers!
From attorneys, who help immigrants and refugees understand their legal rights and documents, to law students, who shadow attorneys to learn more about immigration law, to interpreters, who help clients and attorneys, to general volunteers, who do the tasks that are crucial to successful workshops and clinics.

Walk a Mile in My Shoes is a simulation created to expose people to the lives of displaced peoples in refugee camps in the first person narrative. Each attendee receives information regarding the details of a refugee's life and is expected to play out the role of that refugee as they pass through various stations of the vetting and temporary relocation process. Ultimately, the goal of the program is to illustrate the challenges and suspended hope that many refugees experience in real life for years on end. Although many of us cannot directly share in those experiences, the first step in honoring our immigrant neighbors is becoming more aware of the struggles they have overcome.
For Indianapolis, Walk a Mile in My Shoes is that first step.
